Named after Instagram sensation #franklinthecockapoo – the unbelievably lovable and loyal dog of the group’s violist, Jason Amos – the Franklin Quartet, made up of acclaimed young musicians at home equally on major international stages as they are in gallery spaces, brings to life music from classical to contemporary with a sense of play and imagination that makes every performance new. After being drawn to Boston for its vibrant and eclectic music scene, graduating separately from New England Conservatory and collaborating in diverse projects over many years, the quartet first assembled on a roofdeck in Roxbury Crossing in 2014 for a performance of Ravel and Bartok. There, the seed was planted for an ensemble that would weave together old and new, familiar and original.
